Soak Moong Dal daal for 15 mins
Rinse well and add it to a pressure cooker
Add 3 times the water to the pressure cooker
Add 1 tbsp of turmeric powder and 1 tbsp of salt to it.
pressure cooker it till 1 whistle.
Open the lid after the pressure cooker cools down. Let it cool down completely.
In a pan take 1 tbsp of Oil
Add bay leaf, star anise, clove , cumin to the mixture. Fry until aroma releases. Add chopped green chillies, garlic and ginger to he mixture.
Fry for 1/2 min
Add 1/4 tsp of asafetida to the mixture and cook for another minute.
Add 1 chopped onion to the mixture.
Mix everything together.
Fry till light golden brown. After that add 1 tsp of cumin powder and 1 tsp of chilly powder
Fry everything together
Then add chopped tomatoes to the mixture
Cover and cook till soft.
Now, add 1/4 Tbspn each of coriander powder , garam masala. Add salt as per taste , mix well and fry for a minute.
Now add boiled daal, and Stir well.
Cover and bring to boil.
Open the lid and check the consistency of the Moong Dal
At this stage open the lid and add crushed Kasturi methi to the dal. Your Dal is ready. Time to make the Onion Roti.
Onion Roti Recipe: In a bowl take 1.5 cups of wheat flour.
Add 1/4 tbspn each of Salt, Ajwain, Red chilli powder.
Add 1 chopped onion to the aata
Mix everything well
Add 1 tbspn of ghee and mix well.
Start adding water slowly to the flour and start kneading dough.
We need to prepare a soft dough for this recipe.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10-15 mins.
After 15 min take onion dough make balls same as chapatti size and shape into roundels.
Place the roundel on a rolling board and dust some flour over it
Roll the dough ball until slightly thin.
Take a hot pan and cook well from both the sizes until dots start appearing. At this stage make sure to cook the edges by applying extra pressure.
Apply 1 Tbspn of ghee on both the sides and cook at high flame until lightly crisp.
Serve roti with Dal by adding 1 Tbspn of ghee. Enjoy the meals.
