Dal Makhani is a renowned and unique dal in India. This meal has black lentils cooked with a generous amount of butter and cream. It tastes great with naan!
Ingredients
- 1 Tomato
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 4 tbsp butter (or ghee)
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 2 Cumin powder
- 3 tbsp Fresh cream - 1 half cup
- 1 tsp kasuri methi
- 1 Onions
- 100 gm kidney beans
- 150 gm Urad Dal
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp salt
Instructions

In a pressure cooker, we will need to cook black gram and red kidney beans. Add 2-3 glasses of water to it and add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp turmeric powder and mix it once.

We will keep the flame high till the first whistle and then keep it at a medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes.

For tempering in dal makhani, we will use a pan and add 2 tbsp of oil to it and 3-4 tbsp of butter.

Then add 1 tsp of cumin, cinnamon, 6-7 black pepper, 1 bay leaf, 3 cardamom, 2-3 cloves and let it cook for 2-3 min.

Then we will add our chopped onions to it for 5-6 min.

Then we will add chopped tomatoes and cook it for 3–4 minutes after adding the chopped onion.

Then we will add 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and fry them for 1-2 min.

Then add 1 tsp of fenugreek and fry it for another 2 minutes. It really enhances the taste of dal makhani.

Then we will add salt.

Then we will add our boiled daal and cook it for 15-20 min on medium heat. For that, we will also add some hot water.

We will cover the pot too.

Finally, we will add 1 tsp of coriander powder, 1/2 tsp of garam masala powder, and 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder and mix it, cover it, and cook it for 2-3 minutes.

We will turn off the gas and let the lentils cool down for 2-3 minutes. Then will add fresh cream and, after mixing it, let it cook for 2 minutes.

We will add coriander leaves after turning the gas off.

Now it''s ready to be served hot.
