In a big vessel, take 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour.
Add 2 pinches of salt and mix well.
Now add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and mix again.
Add 1.5 cups of ghee (or oil) and mix until the dough is crumbly.
Add water as required and knead the dough for 2-3 minutes.
Cover the dough and leave it for 15 minutes to puff up.
To make the syrup, take 2 cups of sugar in a pan and add half cup of water.
Turn on the gas and cook on low flame until the sugar dissolves completely.
Add 4 green cardamom peels and a few saffron threads (if using).
Cook for another 1.5 to 2 minutes or until the syrup reaches the perfect consistency.
Remove from heat and add orange food colour (if using).
